What are you using to define world's biggest? Time of show? Cost? Number of fireworks? Number of people watching?
In November 2008, Abu Dhabi had a fireworks display that lasted 45 minutes! It was held to mark the 37th National Day. They also had the most expensive display of fireworks according to the Guinness Book of World Records on New Years 2007-2008. It ended with a rainbow of fireworks that stretched from one bank to the other.
The Tondabayashi-city, Osaka, Japan, fireworks display on August 1 every year claims to have 120,000 fireworks.
In the US the most watched fourth of July fireworks display is the New York City Macy's Fourth Fireworks, followed by Boston, State College (PA), Philadelphia, Washington DC, Seattle, New Orleans, Buffalo (NY) and Lake Tahoe (NV).
As far as the Detroit-Windsor fireworks display, I am assuming this would be on New Years (since Windsor wouldn't celebrate July 4th, and Detroit wouldn't celebrate July 1st).
