I'm assuming you're wondering about online purchases?
I myself have never used the Hot Topic website to buy anything.. but have for other American companies like Victoria Secret and Hollister (before they had Canadian Stores)
Anyways.. you will most likely have to pay a customs tax. With some stores it gets included into your shipping fees as they use their own broker to work out the details.. However in looking at the HotTopic site the fine print is a little more vague…
"Certain countries may charge additional fees, such as custom fees and independent carrier fees. Hot Topic cannot anticipate these fees and will not be able to reimburse you for any additional fees incurred. Please contact your local customs office or branch office of the US Postal Service to determine what type of fees you may expect based upon the type of merchandise you wish to order. " – (found this under USPS Express near bottom of Customer Service – Shipping page)
We get charged extra for EVERYTHING these days.. so definitely expect fees.. And if you have any doubts call them +1.626.709.1189 or they even have live chat sessions and email.. Its always good to address concerns and I'm sure they've dealt with us Canadians before.. It really never hurts to ask! Good luck with the purchase and hope this helped!
