Try to download Google Pack in Czech, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish, and you’ll see Avast’s logo among symbols for Chrome, Google Earth, Picasa, and a handful of other things.  This endorsement should help Avast Free Antivirus Version 5 find its way onto more than a few new computers.

Of course, the odd thing is that Spyware Doctor with Anti-Virus, and not Avast’s product, is still recommended to anyone who takes a look at Google Pack in English.  Whether this is because the change is experimental or Google’s been caught mid-rollout is hard to say.

Or perhaps Google’s just really trying to split hairs with regards to what security software is most effective in different markets.

It’s likely that the adjustment represents some form of payback, though.  Alex Chitu, who wrote about it, also noted, "In December, Avast’s blog announced that the software will offer users the option to install Google Chrome."

Hey guys. To help kick off the year, I am releasing my fourth freebie texture pack! This one contains five unique watercolour textures that I created myself. Now, I want to be up front with all my readers. These textures were originally created as part of a project that I am working on for a new site called MediaLoot (see below for more details on the site).

I was hired to create a set of 10 watercolour textures (along with some other resources). So I decided to create 15 – 10 to complete the project and 5 to give away as a freebie here on the Echo Enduring Blog. The guys at MediaLoot selected 10 of the textures. The remaining 5 are now available to you all as a free download.

Now, I want to stress that these textures are not rejects. They simply were not selected for one reason or another. I still put a lot of work into these, and they are scanned at a very high resolution. I actually like a couple of these better than some of the ones that were chosen! I’m sure they will prove valuable too you.

In previous posts for non-exclusive freebies released before today, I usually sent you to a specific section of my site. However, in anticipation of a redesign and reorganization coming down the pipe, I will now be releasing all of my freebies directly on the blog itself. I will also be updating the previous freebies to reflect this change.

Okay, now more about this MediaLoot site. Basically, it is an awesome new resource base created by Jon Phillips and Mason Hipp. You can read their own descriptions of it over at SpyreStudios and Freelance Folder. Basically, though, MediaLoot is envisioned as being the ultimate designer’s toolbox.

Crawling Vines is a premium seamless vector patterns that I originally designed when writing an in depth tutorial about how to create a detailed, hand-drawn vector pattern. The pattern contains a high degree of intricate detail and tiles beautifully.

Of course, because the pattern is based on an original, hand drawn design element, it is unlikely that anyone would be able to replicate the exact pattern. So, with that in mind and the hopes that some people will actually want to get their hands on these, I’ve decided to release a complete vector pack, featuring the Crawling Vines pattern in nine different monochromatic colours, all of which you can see in the preview below.

The package includes the patterns in both JPG and PNG format, as well as native AI (CS4) formats, which will allow you to edit the patterns as you see fit. Each AI pattern also contains five different groupings, making it easy to create custom colour schemes!

There are quite a few (4 of 7) packs featuring brilliant Technicolor in Vector Set 16, but none quite as bold as “Color Radials”. It has been a while since I placed my previous high resolution texture pack online. Today, I’m presenting you another texture pack called Water Splashes. This pack contains 8 textures (1500 px of width) of some great water splashes behind a speedboat. I made these pictures while traveling to Camiguin (Philippines).

“Front
Row from Charles Worthington targets a fashion savvy consumer at the
younger end of the brand’s audience. It draws on Charles Worthington
and teams vast experience and involvement in the backstage world of
catwalk shows. Jkr wanted to convey not just the flair and drama of
this world, but also the professional nature of the brand and its
products. Their solution stretched from generating the name through to
innovative packaging where the product descriptor and other graphics
can be peeled off to reveal a purely decorative pack. The idea is that
this “peeled pack” makes for a stronger statement when pulled out of a
handbag in the club bathrooms, and has more decorative appeal back home
in the bathroom. It also means that while fashions change, the outer
branding can remain consistent, while the inners can change, or be used
as specific limited editions, such as the range of three already
designed by Erdem.”

I’ve had this texture pack sitting around on my desktop for a few weeks now, for one reason really… I like the textures so much I wanted to keep them for myself. Luckily for you though, my philanthropic spirit trumps my own personal greed, so I decided to give them away after all. Also, on a side note: this marks the 200th texture we’re given away here on Texture Tuesday! Enjoy!
