I really love to see when an illustrator is really well known for a particular style, but it’s also pretty cool when they get to do illustrations in many styles, almost like a swiss knife.

Our friends at UCreative have something new in store for us! They have upgraded their old Gallery into a more exciting platform. You’ll definitely find some cool stuff on this site and some are listed below.

What is UCreative and what should I expect?

UCreative is a new social network designed for artists and designers. It offers a wide range of tools you can use to interact with fellow designers.

UCreative Forums

First off, the site has a forum where you can freely share your ideas and in return, learn from other creative professionals. This is a great way to learn other designers’ best practices and share your own, or to simply just meet others in the community. You can either join an existing forum thread or create your own discussions. You can even leave a message on other members’ profile pages, just like what you do on Facebook.

UCreative Gallery

UCreative allows upload of your own content and artwork. You can post your own blog articles and inform fellow members of fresh design news. It’s an easy way to share your knowledge with the community. Likewise, you’ll also have the opportunity to read other people’s ideas.

Your artworks, on the other hand, can be uploaded on the site with ease. There are even options to add photos from your Flickr account, or even through your mobile phone. UCreative also features outstanding works on the homepage, which means you get a shot to be featured there, too.

Your Own Profile

You can do a lot of awesome stuff on your profile page. Customize My Page by adding different applications. Poke friends, comment on others’ walls, you can even update your friends by leaving a 140-character status message. Make sure to add the app for chatting with everybody else!

I don’t think my illustration fever will end any soon. I’ve been a big fan of it for a really long time and it just gets stronger. Finding new artists is a mission for me these days, and I hope I’m winning.

It’s been some time since the last time that I actually called an illustration “adorable”. I was thinking about other adjectives I could use for this one, and “lovely” and “It’s so cute I wanna die” came through my mind.

Don’t laugh, these are seriously cute. I’m guessing by the style that Genevieve Godbout (the artist who did these!) used coloring pencils, which is absolutely old school and badass. It might be seen as vandalism, but for street art appreciators, trains are potential canvases. When artists come up with good looking art, it just makes cities a little happier.

The first 4 images are in Abduzeedo’s home town, Porto Alegre. All the others are from several cities around the globe. These are very creative, and I gotta say that for these, usually the most colorful ones are simply the best, but of course, it also depends on the overall style. I usually freakout when I find a great illustrator… but this time I’ve found one that just blew my mind. His name? Loopy Dave. The man knows his thing.

All his work is pretty rad, reminds me a lot of Serge Birault’s work (Dave even makes little homages to Serge in his work), and Dave’s work is absolutely full of detail, an that’s exactly what caught my attention. People, look out for hands, muscles, feet (man, the feet are just amazing), girl’s ribs (this one just amazing), fabric and lighting. That said, you may just go ahead and appreciate his work. One thing I definitely fell in love with are modern icons! So, when I got to see websites using huge ones, I was amazed by how well it fits in a good design.

I call it “icon-like” because I’m not 100% sure that these can be indeed called icons. What defines an icon? The size? The use? Where it is made? I really don’t know… but looking at these I imagine they were made in Fireworks, but I know someone smarter than me will tell us what’s the most common tool to make something like these. Anyways, here are some awesome examples… and as you will notice, most of these are used by Mac apps, which makes total sense for me. Awesome OS, awesome icons… or icon-like illustrations. Also, I’d love to know from you if you know any more like these! Let us know! Cheers.

In all these years posting amazing illustrations here I’ve seen tons of different styles, but there are still a few gems yet to be discovered. One of these gems is the amazingly stylish work of Spanish illustrator Felideus Bubastis.

Felideus’ work looks pretty vintage, really well-worked and full of details. These are the kind of illustrations that give you goosebumps.
