What can you use the application for?


PSGive encourages users to donate to a charity while earning free things. The site works by providing the user with three free tokens upon signing up. The user can purchase additional tokens. The tokens are used to participate in events posted on charity pages on PSGive. The user can select interesting events or choose based on their preferred charities. PSGive has set up three event types. The first is a “raise the price” which works much like an auction. The second is a “be unique” which awards the user with the lowest, unique offer. The third type is “reveal the price” event which allows users to spend a token to reveal the current price. Each time this is done, the price goes down and the user can choose to buy. Every PSGive event gives users the chance to get discounted merchandise while donating to a charity.

What is the history and popularity of the application?


PSGive was founded by two individuals who identified a problem in the way charities worked. Both were lifelong friends who had devoted time working with a nonprofit organization. They discovered that after a lengthy six years of effort, the charity was no closer to its goals as it was when they first joined in. The pair felt there was a better way to help charities get donations and support. The result was PSGive, which helps many charities meet their goals in a unique way.

What are the differences to other applications?


PSGive makes it fun to donate to charities. Users get something out of their donations while the charity earns funds for their cause. It is a win-win situation for both sides of the transaction. Users are encouraged to buy more tokens and donate more funds while charities can reach out to more people and award donators with something for their kindness.

How does the application look and feel to use?


PSGive invites users with an elegant blue and orange color scheme. Although a new user might feel a little confused at first, an exploration of the site answers most common questions. The site is overall neat and clean with minimal clutter. The homepage features highlighted charity events so users can immediately get a taste of what is available on PSGive.

How does the registration process work?


A new user can join PSGive by clicking on the black “Not a member? Register Now” link at the top right hand corner of the homepage (under the login area). The registration form requires a first and last name, date of birth, gender, email address, username, password, and optional promotion code. The user is asked to select their preferred charities from a short list. Email options must also be selected. The form automatically signs the user up for all alerts and newsletters. The user can manually uncheck these options to opt out. Finally, the user much check the two terms and conditions check boxes to complete registration.

What does it cost to use the application?


User can create a PSGive account for free. There are no subscription fees or other fees for being a member. New users are given three tokens to start, and can earn three additional tokens for each new user they refer. The only expense associated with PSGive is in extra tokens purchased. Tokens occasionally go on sale and can be purchased in increments. Five tokens run about $1 per token. 20 costs under $20 while 50 costs around $40. 100 tokens costs around $80, 250 is under $200 and 500 tokens costs around $375. The user is not obligated to buy any specific quantity to keep their account.

Who would you recommend the application to?


Two main groups could enjoy PSGive.org. The first is charities who are searching for a better way to earn donations and encourage support. The second is anyone who is interested in giving something to a charity.
