Subs.to – Some movies are so good that even though you don’t understand the language, you still enjoy them. In situations like these, subtitles make it easy for you to understand whats going on in the movie. If you don’t know where to find subtitles for movies, start with Subs.to. Subs.to is an excellent resource to find and download subtitles for new and old movies alike. Subtitles are provided in over 25 languages and can be downloaded in the srt or sub formats. 		Gamescootch – eBay runs thousands of auctions related to video games and gaming consoles everyday. Due to the sheer number of auctions, they are scattered over a lot of categories and it is hard to keep an eye on them. 		Hurricanewatch – is an interactive hurricane tracker for viewing hurricane tracks, storm paths and advisories on an interactive map. Currently it focuses on hurricanes in the Atlantic going back up to 1950 and uses Microsoft Silverlight and Bing Maps to create an interactive application. 		Vizband – There are plenty of ways and tools to search for YouTube videos. VizBand is a little different from all of them since it lets you see the results in a visual mashup. When you search for something using VizBand, the visual search results contain 50 thumbnails mashed up together with no text information or links displayed. 		Prettyprinter – is an online source code formatting utility. It’s an elegant tool to effectively format your code, based on the options available. Just copy and paste your source code into the field provided, check mark the appropriate options and click on ‘submit query‘. Then you will be provided with the corresponding formatted code. Electronics May Still Be OK for U.S. and U.S.-to-U.K Air Travel [Rumor Smash]

When crazy stuff happens on airplanes, as it did on Christmas, you can be rest assured security will tighten and terrifying electronics restrictions will fall into place. But in this latest case, our electronics? They may still be “safe.”

I bring that up because there was apparently this nasty rumor going around that all electronics would soon be banned on all British Airways and Virgina Atlantic flights once these inevitable “new security measures” went live. And could you imagine? A trans-Atlantic flight without laptop movies, MP3 jams and podcasts, and positively no covert airplane mode smartphone adult content? Hell in an aluminum tube, says I.

But it’s apparently not true, for now. Both airways said electronics are still GO, even as some previouslt reported “unpredictable” security measures go into place over the next few days.

American carriers, like Continental, United and AA, have also not changed their security measures in the wake of the attempted Xmas Day terrorist attack—yet—so getting home from your relatives this week could still be moderately bearable, as far as air travel goes anyway. [Pocket Lint]

Oceanic: Virgin Submarines Will Dive Deep [Submarines]

What’s next for Virgin? After nightclubs, record labels, gadgets, cellphone carriers, airlines and space ships, Sir Richard Branson is getting into subs. Fifteen miles from his Necker Island, is the Puerto Rican Trench, deepest spot in the Atlantic. They’ll dive!

Time Mag has this interview, the first place I’ve heard of the Virgin Oceanic project. From the sounds of it, they’re still thinking about the subs themselves.

What hasn’t been explored at all is the depths of the oceans. So we’re in the process of building something called Virgin Aquatic, which is going to be submarines to go 35,000 feet underwater. The oceans need exploring – we know nothing about what’s going on under 25,000 feet. I have an island called Necker Island and 15 miles from there is the deepest place in the whole of the Atlantic, the Puerto Rican Trench. It’s quite likely that we’ll set up a scientific and exploration center on Necker to send out expeditions to explore that trench and other trenches in the world.

The technical challenge is finding materials that can withstand the pressure at 35,000 feet. It’s almost easier to build a spaceship to go into space than to build a vessel that can withstand the pressures at 35,000 feet. But we think we can do it.

In the video, Branson says that building space ships and subs are on par in terms of difficulty of hull designs that can resist great pressure. He also says that before the ultra deep dive vehicles are created, they’ll start with light craft that can travel in the 1000 to 10000 foot range. And the goal, like Virgin Galactic, is both scientific and passenger, commercial.
