What can you use the application for?
Yahoo! Finance is a complete finance reference. It provides breaking news, market summaries, lending rates, and other financial news. There are sections for investing, news & opinion, personal finance, tech ticker, and tools for tracking the market and creating an online portfolio.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
Yahoo! was founded by Jerry Yang and David Filo in 1994 as a search engine portal. It has been widely reported, including in the New York Times, that Yahoo Finance is superior to Google’s financial application. It has been ranked by comScore as the top financial news and research site in the US with well over 20 million unique visitors per month.
What are the differences to other applications?
Each page is simple and clean looking. It is easy to use and not as overwhelming as other financial news sites. Yahoo Finance is comprehensive and has information for every investor, regardless of experience or knowledge.
How does the application look and feel to use?
There are several advertisements scattered over the pages, but they do not interfere with the content of the site.
The Home screen offers a wide variety of data for information at a glance. The Investing tab yields an overview page with links to several subcategories. Perhaps the most useful area in this section is the Education area. From basic investing to personal finance, articles are very accessible to everyone, regardless of prior knowledge. The News & Opinion section offers articles and reports on various investments and strategies. The Personal Finance area contains calculators for mortgages, retirement, and more as well as articles and tools geared toward individuals rather than businesses. The Tech Ticker has continuously updating news with video interviews, a variety of tech topics, and several categories of tech industries.
My Portfolio is a tracking tool for symbols (stocks, mutual funds, or indices), transactions, and current holdings. Each tracker has a very simple setup with dropdown menus and checkboxes. All trackers are extremely easy and intuitive to use.
How does the registration process work?
Users must simply create a general Yahoo account to use this application. First and last name, gender, birthday, country, and zip code are required. A Yahoo ID must be created and checked for availability. Users then provide an alternate email or secret question for use in case of forgotten ID or password. Once signed in to Yahoo, all aspects of Yahoo Finance are available.
What does it cost to use the application?
Most of Yahoo Finance is free to use. Some areas, such as the Real-Time Quotes service for stock trading, are free for a trial period and then incur monthly charges.
Who would you recommend the application to?
Anyone looking for an all inclusive financial news and information system will benefit from Yahoo Finance. While there is a lot of content for investors, the personal finance section has tools and guides for individuals planning for retirement, college tuition payment, and more. There is information for businesses as well as individuals. Education for beginners is vast and well presented. A majority of the services on the site are free.

Yahoo finance is a portal like many others that provide information on financial markets among other news.
Indexes are groupings of stocks based on certain categories. For example DJIA (often referred to as "Dow"), is an average of the 30 largest public companies in the United States. Similarly, the S&P 500 is an index for 500 Large-Cap stocks.
The Nasdaq and NYSE are stock exchages where stocks are listed.

You don't Google it.
What you do is either: (1) contact your Realtor, or (2) contact the designated settlement company. If you don't know the title company, then you go with (1), contact your Realtor.
