They're different parts of Normandy. 'Haute' translates as 'upper' whereas 'basse' is 'lower'. Normandy got divided into two administrative regions.

Of course there are girls out there who make the first move with guys, those are the girls who don't strictly believe that the first approach should be made by the gentleman. This is the 21st century, we know men aren't necessarily supposed to walk over to a girl, bow before her, and ask for her arm nowadays. Girls who approach guys with no problem have the outlook of, "Well, I think they seem interesting, let me go see what they're about before the opportunity passes". But then there are alot who still think the scrimping and bowing should still go on. My friend for example, she has stated repeatedly that she would NEVER go up to a guy to introduce herself, that will have to be his job. I've asked her, "What if he's as scared as you and doesn't do it? But he's praying that you'll come say hi to him?" "Well that's too bad. Cuz I would never do it." I used to think this way. The reasons being 1) I'm way too shy to go up to a guy, I'm afraid of rejection. 2) My ego, I thought it was more ladylike to remain reserved and not forward. But I've begun to realize, at 19 years old, that boys are just as scared as I was, there were alot of guys I had crushes on in high school that I wished I had the guts to just start small talk with. But I'm getting better at starting the convos. And I also think it depends on who the guy and girl is in question. For example, this one guy I got to know said when he first saw me, he was scared to come up and talk to me (a lot of guys are afraid to come up to me). I was surprised he admitted that, and I asked why, and he said "Idk. I'm not usually shy around girls, but I was around you." But for some reason I'm attracted to the reserved type of guys. So I'm getting better at being more friendly. I understand that with making the first move, both could be equally scared, but I now believe there has to be an equal amount of effort. A guy shouldn't have to do everything, no matter how chivalrous. If the girl really cares, she'll do just as much in return. So I have a question for you: Why don't guys start the interaction if they find you attractive? Are they really that afraid/intimidated?

most corps that i have observed or worked with run a mini camp. while you are expected to play an audition *(materials worked on in mini camp) you are actually judged on every move you make during camp. criterion include;
are you serious about your playing & marching? do you learn fast? are you a whiner or a winner? how well do you get along with your corps mates? are you self disciplined?

when you play your auditions the panel looks/listens for;
tone quality, control, articulation, posture, breath control/support, confidence, intonation, phrasing

materials used at auditions are common corps excercises and possibly real music excerpts. most corps post their music online or will mail it to you ahead of time if you request it.
