I have not had a greyhound , but have had sight hounds. They are a very unique and affectionate dogs. Very sensitive and intelligent. It sounds like you are too. Your plan sounds perfect and you have taken all the necessary things into consideration. I'm sure you will do fine. They are so laid back in the house you will be surprised. If you do get one that has a problem, the glory of a retired racing dog is they are already conditioned for crate training. But after a week or two should be so grateful for the new home you won't need one. Toys are helpful. I had 2 Borzois I traveled all over the country with. They can adapt to most anything as long as they are loved. Good luck, you sound like you'll be a great dog owner. Enjoy.
