3 Feb 2010In times like these when money is tight, I’m always inspired by people who get really creative about how to still enjoy life’s luxuries. Taking vacations is a perfect example. People everywhere are saving a ton of money by “exchanging” their house with others that want to swap houses with them for their vacation. I first learned of this concept when I saw it on Oprah about a year ago, and then today when I saw this video, I knew I had to share it with you.
Upon hearing about this idea, almost everyone immediately becomes nervous about having strangers in their home, but according to http://www.homeexchange.com, “Think of home exchange as Internet dating for your home. Before you would actually go on a date with someone you met on the Internet, you would exchange some emails, talk on the phone a few times, and swap recent photos. By the time you agreed to meet, it wouldn’t be with a “stranger”. You wouldn’t go on a date if you didn’t feel a connection, and the same goes for a home exchange.”
Home Exchange has assisted thousands of people save a ton of money on hotels and restaurants around the world. Although you have to be very open minded to try this, it is apparently changing the travel perspective for a lot of people. Instead of being in a cramped hotel on your vacation, you are in a home environment experiencing the city like a local.
I wonder if this will catch on to the point of being considered a real vacation alternative. I guess only time will tell! This video offers some great insight on this creative option.

You could look into subletting an apartment, which would be cheaper; you'd get to use most rooms, so it would be similar to having a suite, but it wouldn't be hundreds or thousands a night. You can find good ones between 1000 and 2000 (or more) per month; check out craigslist.com

Ahhhhh…… travel carefully.
I've heard about home exchanges. Things could work out, but what if you get scammed. Finding someone on-line thinking they live overseas, has some decent pictures of the place they "live" in, even tells you of some place to go while there.
You send pictures of you place, places to go, things to see. Things seem peachy.
You start your travel to your destination by flying. They fly to their destination by car. Before you land there they are emptying your place out. By the time you realize you have no destination, they are long gone with your stuff and you're stuck in Europe with no place to stay.
Sorry, the father in me coming out. You can try doing that, but I would advise the utmost caution.

First off, make sure you can handle any reciprocation. But the easiest is just smiling first and saying hi. I remember standing at a tram stop in Melbourne Australia and along came a little old lady and I asked her a question like: "how often do the trams run", even though the schedule was right there on the pole. It got her to talking and made my trip quite pleasant, since she told me how I could use my fare to maximum advantage. Many people just naturally love to help others if given an opening. Y!A is a good venue for this.

Then first off you need a new IT guy.
With Win2K as the OS your stuck to Outlook over VPN in cache mode. If your server is Exchange 03 and you run Outlook o3 on XP you could go to Outlook via which is TONS better than a VPN connection.
Added comments:
You may have been running a VPN on 98 but it's not setup on your new 2K. You have no choice but to run Outlook thru a VPN with Outlook and Win2K.
