Real Fonts and Rendering: The New Elephant in the Room

In: web resources

22 Dec 2009

My friend, the content strategist Kristina Halvorson, likes to call content “the elephant in the room” of web design. She means it’s the huge problem that no one on the web development team or client side is willing to acknowledge, face squarely, and plan for….

Without discounting the primacy of the content problem, we web design folk have now birthed ourselves a second lumbering mammoth, thanks to our interest in “real fonts on the web“ (the unfortunate name we’ve chosen for the recent practice of serving web-licensed fonts via CSS’s decade-old @font-face declaration—as if Georgia, Verdana, and Times were somehow unreal).…

Put simply, even fonts optimized for web use (which is a whole thing: ask a type designer) will not look good in every browser and OS.

It depends on which route you take. Note that all Interstate highways are designed so the "grade" (steepness of the road) is minimal.

Taking I-10 to CA would be the route with the least mountains.

Your parents should consider joining AAA (American Automobile Association). AAA will help with trip planning and also provide road service along the way.

EVIL does not exist in the animal kingdom, it is a word made up by religios nuts to give a name to things they didnt like..
an elephant might be a killer, but that doesnt mean it is evil, maybe its handlers were mean to it?
needs a catchier title..like Snakes on a Plane

maybe Elephant on the War Path

gumtree.com – there are separate boards by city

Watch out for scammers though – unfortunately there are scammers looking on boards like this trying to get money. Don't ever wire money or send a cheque as a deposit before you have seen the room in person and met the person you will be living with. The typical scam is to ask you to send money to a friend via Western Union or Money Gram and send the receipt to the "renter" to prove that you have the funds, but they end up using a fake ID to withdraw the money from Western Union.

But as long as you speak to an actual person, view the flat and meet your potential flatmates in person, then you should not get scammed.
