Inside a Virtual Reality Hamster Ball [VIDEO]

Ever wonder what it would be like to step inside a giant wire mesh cage, put on a virtual reality headset, walk around like a hamster and shoot crazy alien opponents? No? Luckily our friends at Engadget did, and went hands, eyes and feet-on with the Virtusphere at GDC.

Keep in mind that this product isn’t new, but if you haven’t seen it in action before the video below is well worth the watch.

With a $50,000 price tag, this toy makes spending $170 on some plastic Rock Band instruments seem like a veritable bargain. This is just between us, but we secretly plan on buying a bunch and renting them out like inflatable moonbounce houses.

Would you want one of these things in your living room? Would it fit in your living room? Let us know in the comments.

The picture blows up and there is a diagram of how the metal is twisted (using pliers) around the metal wire – and the description sounds right, although you may need to order more than one pack: Use these Little Giant Wire Cage Clips to assemble 14-16 gauge wire panels for rabbit hutches and pet homes. One package will assemble 3-4 average size units.

Although, I think you have to order the product (I am pretty sure is the same), from this website, as it says to buy it from your local store, and it is an American website >>

The price is $5.86 or £3.52, and it is ordered through Amazon.

Hope this was helpful, and your cage sounds great :)

If you don't have stairs or dogs they LOVE the hamster ball. It allows them the freedom to go all over the house without getting lost or hurt. Just make sure they can't roll down anything like stairs, as stated above. Make sure everyone in the house knows when they're out so no one trips or accidentally kicks the ball.
