Award-Winning Rebrands of 2009

3 Feb 2010

I was browsing the other day, checking out some brand inspiration. I ended up on Rebrand, which is an absolute goldmine for graphic design/branding inspiration. Specifically, I wondered onto their 2009 Best of Awards Page where they showcase a huge amount of rebranding projects, grouped into Winners, Distinction, Merit & Notables selections. If you are in the need of some design inspiration – specifically, branding or rebranding – I highly suggest checking their site out. The best part of their Awards section is that they go into great detail, showing what the end result of each project as a whole looks like, as well as detailing challenges, goals, and more.

Below, I’ve outlined their Winning Rebrands of 2009. The images below are just a small sample of what is shown on the Rebrand page; I suggest clicking through so you can see how each brand was implemented across the board, including business collateral, store design, product packaging and more. Great work overall – here are the Award Winning Rebrands of 2009.

Cisco Webex

Before:

After:

Cisco Webex provides software-as-a-service, amongst many other services. Cisco aquired Webex in 2007, and thus this rebrand came to be. Overall, a clean & identifiable corporate identity that really shines in the collateral.

Dedeman

Before:

After:

Dedeman is a retail store aimed at homeowners (like Home Depot, except Romanian). Their previous identity was, in my opinion, a little strange. It’s mostly the weird happy-face man with the disturbing pot belly that puts me off. The new identity does a great job of maintaining brand equity while updating the look. I personally really dig the typeface – it’s strong, unique & has some personality. Here’s the rest of the Dedeman collateral.

ICFJ

Before:

After:

The ICFJ, or International Center for Journalists, used to suffer from a severe case BoringClipArtIsisOsis. The hackneyed globe, combined with the dated swooshes & plain serif type, might have cut it back in the day when it was created, but it really doesn’t convey any sense of strength, structure or individuality. The new identity – probably my favorite out of all the winners – is everything the old identity wasn’t. The ICFJ collateral really adds to the whole package as well.

LOVE 146

Before:

After:

Now THIS is a non-profit identity. Generally, I see a lot of poorly designed non-profit identities – perhaps this is due to the dreaded “design by committee” that comes along with boards & non-profits, or perhaps it’s because most non-profits have a small or non-existent budget. Regardless of why, it is great to see such a strong identity starting at the logo and carried right through all other collateral. Kudos to the designer(s).

NZZ Online

Before:

After:

NZZ Online is the online version of Switzerland’s leading newspaper. Now, this isn’t a complete rebrand in the sense of new logo etc, but the website was overhauled. Upon first glance, the redesign isn’t groundbreaking, but when you consider the challenges presented (larger reader base, huge amount of information etc), the redesign of NZZ Online is really a home run. A strong grid; a much-improved navigation system; much-needed features like article commenting etc; all these elements add up to a much-improved online identity for a huge client. Click through to ReBrand to see the details of the site design.

There you have it – Rebrands 2009 Best of Award winners. Thanks for reading!

It's dangerous if anyone who want to lose weight fast. Losing weight always requires a combination of diet and exercise.

You may want to try adopting a detox diet, that can help you cleanse and remove unwanted toxins including fats. Also, ensure that you adopt a good exercise program that allows you to really work out.

I used to work at home depot. It depends on the store and the associate. Most of the time, my store didn't even charge it unless you wanted a LOT of little cuts. So it depends on how many cuts you need. Also, be extra nice. If you are a B**** about it, then most likely they will charge you! No one wants to help anyone who is rude to them.

The policy is the first 2 cuts are free, 25 cents after each other cut. But if you only need like 4 cuts, they probably won't even charge you. It is really up to the associate to decide if they charge you or not. Try going at a less busy time when they aren't too busy or you may have to wait awhile!
