Avatar Catching Up With Titanic: Earnings Hit $1.3 Billion

In: web resources

When Avatar hit the 1 billion dollar milestone, we asked you whether you believe it has what it takes to surpass Titanic on the all-time biggest earners list. Most of you thought that it has a very good chance of doing so, and judging by its 4th weekend box office results, you were right.

This weekend, Avatar once again shattered the previous record for the best 4th weekend at the box office, earning 48,500,000 dollars. On its fourth weekend in cinemas, Titanic made 20 million dollars less. If the trend continues, Avatar will not only surpass Titanic; it will set new records far above the popular historic love story.

One detail strikes me as odd, however: I don’t see the movie industry complaining much about Avatar being pirated. According to Torrentfreak, it’s by far the most pirated movie right now, but it still managed to earn over a billion dollars in cinema, and it’s showing no signs of stopping. Could it be that all that interest and buzz around the movie, even on torrent sites, actually helped propel Avatar into one of the biggest earners ever? Also, for an analysis of how social media helped Avatar become the second most watched movie of all time, check here.

If you plan on having this at a location,
let all know to pay for themselves, this
is acceptable. Make sure the location is
reaonably priced. If you are throwing a
party at your place or hotel room then
you are responsible for food and some
beverages you can let them know BYOB.
I suggest a location. In most cases the
you would pay for his food and the first
drink, while others chip in for the other
rounds of drinks for groom to be.
I suggest being prepared to pay for both
you and he for all should others not chip
in.

I don't know, but terminal velocity of an object falling in water shouldn't be too hard to find out.

1. "…and eventually insist that Allie does not see him anymore."

That sounds just a tad bit awkward grammatically. Try substituting "does" for "would" or just not use "does" at all.

2. "…and they seemed to carry the emotions…"

I'd suggest omitting the word "seemed". In this essay, YOU are the movie critic, and that uncertainty undermines your authority as such.

3. "…to create awed responses."

"Awed" isn't very strong as an adjective. Try "awestruck" or "awe-inspired".

4. "The Notebook gives us a story about what we long for, what we settle for, and who we’re meant for – and the destiny that Allie and Noah must create for themselves."

You don't have to do this, but I would preface this concluding statement with the characters, rather than ending with them. It only requires some simple rearrangement. Or break it up into two separate sentences.

I.E. "The Notebook essentially narrates the struggle and success of Allie and Noah creating a destiny for themselves. But it moreover narrates the universal human story of what we long for, what we settle for, and who we're meant for. "

Hope that helps! Otherwise, you're an impeccable review writer.
