Anderson Cooper Dives in to Rescue Injured Haitian Boy [VIDEO]

In the face of disaster, small acts of heroism can add up. Even sending a simple SMS can lead to more than $20 million raised for relief efforts surrounding the Haiti earthquake.

Enter another small act of heroism, this time on the part of CNN anchor Anderson Cooper. While filming in Haiti, Cooper was in the vicinity when a store fight reportedly broke out and left a boy wounded after suffering a blow to the head from a concrete block. In the video below (Warning: It’s on the graphic side), Cooper extricates the boy from the confrontation to relative safety.

The footage enters into a larger dialogue surrounding the role of journalists as impartial observers in dire situations like the Haiti disaster. As medical correspondents become field doctors and newscasters rescue children from the crossfire, it’s a timely ethical debate perhaps without a clear-cut solution.

What’s your take: Do journalists have a duty to provide aid in life-threatening situations or does that level of emotional engagement impact the independence required for good journalism?

Yes of course you do.
Getty are a stock library – people buy the shots there to use in various different things and pay differing prices for different usage licenses.

He's probably really jetlagged. Him and his team just got to Afghanistan and had to turn around and return home to cover the VT shootings.

CNN changes their News Format every so often because it's their way to keep attracting a new audience…and keep their loyal viewer base.

Fox News prefers to keep their scrolling news bar because the producers feel its who they are…

The new on screen format for graphics doesn't bother me.. shaking things up every now and then is quite good, after all CNN being as big as they are have the money to do so…

Yahoo ! Tennis isnt very reliable actually …. i know its easy cause you can get all tennis scores (both WTA and ATP) in one place but its still not very reliable.I advise you to visit ATP .Com and WTA Tour in order to stay up-to-date .Maybe Yahoo! hasnt uploaded them cause they generally ignore the tenni spage , giving more importance to Soccer and Cricket.

Just fyi, there are some other ways to donate without using your own cash by redeeming online point rewards. For example, Coke is matching reward point donations from bottles and cans on a 2-for-1 basis to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief efforts fund.
