Why? Your image file at that size has say 50 by 50 pixels. If you are clicking and dragging the image then you are just enlarging each pixel. So, therefore, the image gets fuzzy and distorted because the computer only stores the color of each pixel and it doesn't "know" and cannot display any greater detail of the image. What might help you understand is that if you zoom in on your picture. When zoomed in it should look similar to when you drag it. It is rather complicated to explain. Sorry if I sound confusing. XD But a good image editing (free) software is GIMP I don't think you can enlarge and image without distorting its quality.
