There are no "text plugins" as such. You build the effects yourself. You will need to rasterize the text to add effects to it, which then means you can't edit it any more as text. But the cool effects and designs you see on text are not done with any kind of text plug-in. Text will be on its own layer when you create it, and from there you can add layer effects to the text, use the text to make a clipping mask and do things like have an image show through the text and so on. So you need to learn about those things to get cool effects, there's no text plug-in that will do these things.

Depends on what you are doing exactly. What type of connection?

Say you wanted to connect a texture to a shader node. Open the Attribute editor for the shader node, then in the hypershade, drag and drop the texture onto the color attribute of the shader node thaats open in he AE..

Drag and drop is the key point.
