The solar eclipse that took place on Friday, best visible from the Maldives, lasted 11 minutes and eight seconds, making it the longest solar eclipse that will occur for one thousand years.

Associated Press
An annular solar eclipse is seen in the sky over Male, Maldives, on Friday.

The U.S. space agency NASA created a special Web site dedicated to the annular solar eclipse, which occurs when the moon passes in front of the son but doesn’t completely block it, creating a ring of sunlight surrounding the moon. The next eclipse that will exceed it in duration will take place on December 23, 3043.

Friday’s eclipse was visible on a 185-mile stretch beginning in Africa, where the shadow’s path moved east from Chad and travel across the Indian Ocean to Bangladesh, India, China, and Myanmar, according to NASA.

A number of news agencies posted photo galleries and videos documenting the eclipse path from locations in Africa and Asia.

And the New York Times’ Tierney Lab is featuring updates from astronomers who have journeyed to Kanyakumari, at the southern tip of India, and are chronicling their observations of the solar eclipse.

One of the scientists, Williams College professor of astronomy Jay Pasachoff, writes: “This annular eclipse is particularly long, with 10 minutes and 9 seconds of annularity where I am going….It will be the longest central eclipse I have ever seen. (Total eclipses never exceed seven and a half minutes, and no total eclipse for the next hundred years will come even near that.)”

LOL, don't worry about it if the their MOM isn't taking care of them chances re he's taking over. This happened with one of my Dad's friends. His sister's dog had puppies but she rejected them a few days later so after that the dog's sister took over and started taking care of them as if they were hers, she already lost two pups of her own out of a litter of 3.

Chances are your duck is probably doing the same thing but keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't try to break the eggs, heh-heh if he keeps this up and the egs hatch he'll porbably foster them.

The name of the place is called Sumatra. I am the one issued the warning 2 hours before Tsunami struck our Indian coast. For issuing the warning I have used my knowledge and earthquake alarm designed by me in the year 2001 itself. But the usage was not accepted by our meteorological department.I am in Chennai in India most affected state. The epicenter was 2040 k/m from our place. But my earthquake alarm sensed the wave for an unusual time of 12 minutes. To know more about that incident just browse as A.Ganapathy India in Google;e or A.Ganapathy India in Earth science in Yahoo Q & A.It was first reported as 8.7 in Richter scale after 3 months it was revised as 9.3 in Richter scale. But I have reported as I have sensed very big earthquake which I never heard in the history of earthquake.

Yes. If you are self-employed — which you are if your income is reported on Form 1099-MISC — you must file Form 1040 and attach Schedule C or C-EZ to calculate your net self-employment income. If that net income exceeds $400 you must attach Schedule SE to calculate the self-employment tax. When you're self-employed you pay both halves of the Social Security and Medicare taxes so the effective tax rate is close to 15% instead of the usual 7.65% that employees pay.

I , a happy Bolshevik

China gives loans to USA so that USA can buy Chinese exports. At the same time they keep US dollar high ,this means a low Yuan, this in turn fuels Chinese exports. If China stops buying US debt the green painted paper would plummet as fast as a rock and the Yuan would skyrocket this not only would brake Chinese exports but would also spark unrest among Chinese peasants because Chinese farming would become not competitive ( it would be easier for China to import food).
We , Bolsheviks, love all this mess in the World. The door for us is again open. Our activists are right now fermenting unrest all over the World ,we know that this one is an unstoppable world crisis.
We are very happy, our forecast was correct "The United States of America is epicenter of the world crisis",as you can understand we need to make correct forecasts , that is how we can make our political plans.
Everything is going on as previously forecasted.
Btw, we also know that capitalist economists are of inferior quality, they have no clue about what to do on this crisis. That day when Lehman Brothers was not bailed out, we danced on the street, because it was a mistake , a nice mistake….a beautiful mistake. The mistake we needed, it was how the markets panicked.
Mistakes are useful.

If you haven't brought the kitten into your home yet, when you see him next wipe him or her down with a towel and bring it home with you. Set it very casually on the floor, and let your cat approach it, (don't bring your cat to the towel like you're showing him, let him find it on his own). If you have plenty of time in advance, then leave the towel around for several days, and even bring more towels with the kittens’ scent. Place them several places in the house, in the same way you “planted” the first one. It may also be helpful to rub your cat down with a towel also and bring it to the kitten.

When it’s time for the kitten to come home for the first time, as you are distracting your resident cat, have a friend, (someone who doesn’t live with you) bring the kitten in and place him or her in a room with the door closed. Also ask your friend to get the food and water dishes and the litter box set up in the closed room. Include toys and a bed, (or just a box with towels). The litter box should be in the opposite side of the room from the food, water and bed. DO NOT set up the kittens room before you bring him or her home. This will only confuse your cat. The point is to make your older cat think that the kitten suddenly, (and magically!) appeared, without your knowledge.

Your cat will approach the door and pick up on the scent of the kitten. Don’t get discouraged or worried if you hear some hissing and growling, as this is very common. For the first couple days, spend a limited time in the room with the kitten and make sure to give your resident cat plenty of affection, even more than usual.

Cats are very territorial animals, and this is why you don’t want him to see the kitten as an intruder that YOU brought home and shoved in his face. Cats are very much creatures of habit and routine, so when his routine is disrupted, don’t be surprised if he becomes very angry. You must be the judge of when they should meet face-to-face, but don’t push things too quickly. When you believe they have calmed down and are ready, casually open the door a few inches. Remember, you are being nonchalant about this; do not force them on each other. You should pick a time after both cats have just eaten; feed them a treat that you know they will love, (like some of their favorite cooked meat). They will be content and their bellies will be full, so they’re less likely to want to exert a lot of energy in a cat fight. Supervise them and don’t be surprised if the older cat swats at or fights with the kitten. Don’t step in and separate them unless someone’s getting hurt worse than just a scratch on the nose. The kitten will probably retreat into his or her room at which time you should close the door. Increase the time you allow them to interact each day. Don’t leave them together unattended until you are confident that they comfortable with each other. Be patient. It may take a few weeks or even a few months, but if all goes well they will soon become the best of friends.

Extra tip: to ease the initial tension of introduction, rub each cat down with brewer's yeast powder. Brewer's yeast is available in natural food stores. It's all natural, full of vitamin B, and will actually go good for the cats to lick it off. The smell of the brewers yeast helps disguise the foreign odors and each cat will basically smell the same. Don't use anything like baby powder because the talc isn't good for the cat to breathe or ingest. You should use the same grooming tools (combs, brushes, towels, mitts) on both cats to transfer their scents to one another.
Good luck!

The moon is in its "new moon" phase during any solar eclipse: total, annular or partial.
