Windows Phone 7 has been the talk of the town at MWC 2010 and more than a month later the town is still talking about it. While current Windows Mobile versions are losing miserably the battle against the other smartphone platforms, Windows Phone 7 can and will be the savior Microsoft wants it to be.

But MWC 2010 wasn’t enough for us, was it? Microsoft dazzled us with pretty words and pictures but we didn’t really get the Windows Phone 7 experience we wanted. We heard rumors about chassis versions, we read minimum hardware requirements and we got angry that the HTC HD2 will not be upgradeable to Windows Phone 7 because it has a button or two too many.

Now we hear that Microsoft is ready to reveal more details about its platform but we’ll have to wait for its famous conference, Microsoft MIX, to take place later next week before we can bring you the entire scoop. The conference is said to focus on Windows Phone 7 Series, Silverlight and Internet Explorer 9.

We will disregard the last two elements and focus on Windows Mobile 7 since that’s what we’re really interested in, aren’t we folks? Although Silverlight can also be an important part of the upcoming Windows Phone 7 universe.

Microsoft is expected to reveal technical specs and features of Windows Phone 7 at MIX. Does this mean we’ll also see actual Windows Phone 7 devices from manufacturers, like the LG Panther prototype for example? Well that’s not absolutely necessary but at least we will be able to see how Redmond plans to fight against the upcoming iPhone 4G and the Android smartphone horde this year.

Since Microsoft will thoroughly explain how Windows Phone 7 works we’re also counting on them to reveal more details about apps and games in particular. We already know that the new mobile platform will let us play the same games we’re used to playing on Windows PCs or Xbox consoles but we’ll be interested in more facts about them. We will be curious to see how Microsoft will integrate them into the rumored revamped Marketplace since their App Store response is also a key factor in the future of Windows Phone 7 particularly since it has to be totally redesigned for the new mobile OS.

What would you like to see from Microsoft next week at MIX?
