In case you expected the web, TFTS included, not to focus on Apple’s iPad today then you were deeply mistaking since today is the day when Cupertino starts taking iPad pre-orders in. We have already told you that pre-orders started at 8:30AM EST today and we have already showed you what other tablet offers are going to be available out there soon. Nonetheless, if you’d rather choose Apple’s tablet over the Doritos tablet and everyone else’s, then we have more iPad-related details you should be aware of before pre-ordering yours.

The first thing you should know about iPad pre-orders is that you will be limited to ordering just two units for now. In other words you won’t be able to get one for yourself, your wife/husband, your newborn baby and your dog. The baby and the dog will have to somehow get their own iPads later.

Accessories are available also to pre-order but you don’t want the iPad case or iPad dock right away, do you? The most important iPad accessory is without a doubt the iPad Keyboard Dock which is only coming in mid-April.

While iPhone OS 3.2 and its various beta versions have revealed lots of details regarding the future of the iPhone 4G and the iPad, don’t expect to be surprised immediately by features not shown during Steve Jobs’ keynote back in January. What you will notice however is that Apple played around with the hardware and made a minor modification. The mute button will now be used as a “screen rotation lock.”

I guess it’s pretty clear what that does and I must say this new feature is more than welcomed than a mute button. The iPad won’t be used as a phone so you won’t really have to mute it with a single button during meetings, shows or movies so, will you? But a button that tells the accelerometer not to rotate the screen all the time is definitely something that would come in handy.

In case the iPad Wi-Fi is not your favorite piece of cake then you will surely be waiting for the iPad 3G. So how does the whole 3G data plan work, at least in the USA? Well it’s pretty simple. You get to “choose the data plan that works best for you. When you need more data, you can add another 250MB or upgrade to the Unlimited Data plan.” Naturally, you won’t have to sign a new contract with AT&T and you’ll be able to sign up for AT&T 3G and cancel it at any time, right from your iPad.

So now that you are aware of everything iPad-related, are you ready to choose, or not to choose, Apple’s tablet?
