In Madrid:
Go to the Casa del Campo (open countryside right on the edge, West of Madrid) on the teleferico (cablecar).
Visit the Palacio Real (Royal Palace) which overlooks the Casa del Campo.
Visit the Prado (Spain's most famous art museum which, among other glorious painters, houses a fascinating collection of Goyas)
Visit las Descalzas Reales, a wonderful convent (literally it means 'The Royal Barefoot Sisters) in Madrid's old centre – it has awesome relics like the bones or hair of Jesus Christ!
Visit the Museo Taurino (the bullfighting museum) right next to Madrid's bullring, las Ventas, where you can see sculptures & portraits of the bullfighters & the trajes de luces (suits of lights, the costumes the matadors wear, which were designed by the painter, Goya).
Visit the wonderful Museo de Sorolla, Spain's most famous Impressionist painter). It's not just an ordinary museum, it's the house he lived and worked in and is fascinating.
Suerte! (good luck!)
